Images From the Garden
This is a companion post to Poetry From the Garden where I shared a few words about gardening this year together with poetry inspired by it. Below are some photos I took along the way.
The garden was home to many birds, insects, snails, slugs, moles, and other tiny creatures. Occasionally, some plants were eaten, and salad seedlings were flooded once. The residents of the garden always left more than enough for the residents of the house, and it was a delight to witness their lives. I sometimes only needed to use homemade rings from plastic bottles to protect very small seedlings. Even the mole seldom dug right below the plants, instead finding its way between them.
Throughout the season, I often collected plenty for the day for both bunny girls and me. For one of the bunies, Růženka, this was the last season. I’m thankful she had fresh greens and could hop around the garden frequently, until nearly her last day. Grateful for all the gifts.
